Rescue Mission, a Fort Wayne-based nonprofit, is preparing to reopen its thrift store and vocations ministry, Treasure House. The non-profit organization says thrift store operations moved from Coldwater Crossing to Pine Valley Shopping Center earlier this year.
The nonprofit will hold a public reopening event on Wednesday with a groundbreaking ceremony, giveaways and food trucks.
“We are thrilled to share our ministry and our new store location with the community,” said Rescue Mission CEO Reverend Donovan Coley. “Our store offers shoppers and donors a unique, premium savings experience while supporting men, women and children experiencing a homelessness crisis. Every item donated and every dollar spent provides resources to support programs that address the root causes of homelessness, such as trauma, mental illness, substance use disorders and lack of a support system.
The non-profit organization says the new location includes a larger retail area and a donation center covered with a canopy for contactless donations.
“The larger and improved space gives us the opportunity to expand our professional training program and offer highly demanded professional certifications to our participants,” Coley said. “Our goal is to give people concrete skills applicable in today’s job market.”
The Maison du Trésor is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
