Taylor Theater students raise funds for Grant County Rescue Mission

Members of the Taylor University cast and production crew of Kill a mockingbird participated in the Grant County Rescue Mission Walk-A-Mile in my shoes to Marion on February 19.

The students were sponsored by Taylor’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega (APO), a national theatrical honors society. Kill a mockingbird is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by the late author Harper Lee and is set in the Great Depression-era South. Taylor’s Theater program presented Kill a mockingbird in February.

the Walk-A-Mile in my shoes The purpose of the event is to raise awareness in the local community of the plight of the homeless and needy and to raise funds to support Grant County’s rescue mission for the coming year. Eleana Manning, vice president of Alpha Psi Omega, said Taylor’s student participation in the event was consistent with a story line in which the protagonist, Scout, relays a quote from her father in which he said, “You never really know a man until you put yourself in his shoes and walk around with him.

Prior to the event, Taylor’s APO Chapter encouraged people to register and donate via social media. The effort raised over $500 for the mission.
