Mutt Matchers

Adoption application

The Mutt Matchers app does NOT apply to the adoption of rottweilers!

Foster application

NCRR’s Mutt Matchers Program is working with two shelters that have a very high kill rate and a very low adoption rate. They are very rescue friendly and will work with rescues to try to save as many lives as possible. If you are looking for a particular companion dog, Mutt Matchers will contact both shelters to inquire if that particular dog is waiting at the shelter for an angel to save it’s life. Please submit your application as soon as possible with the information of the type of dog you would like to help. Time is of the essence! Read more below.

Justice was a cruelty case taken from his people for starving him. He was skin and bones when taken to the shelter. He doesn’t look like the same dog. Justice is a great boy and will make anyone a wonderful pet. He isn’t a jumper and walks good on leash. He has a BEAUTIFUL Pitty face and is very loving. He likes to run and play and be with his people. If you are ready for a lover and maybe some fun days at the lake or beach, put in an application today!

Great Dane / PitbullGreat Dane / Pitbull

After being abandoned, and neglected by his owner, he arrived at a Kennel after being picked up wandering the cold streets. He is approx. 2 years old, and has an excellent disposition. VERY affectionate, playful, loves car rides and playing with his toys!! Despite his past, this special boy is an exceptional and very special dog. A loving home would be so lucky to have him in their life! He is underweight, but we are working on that! His regular weight should be around 45 pounds.

Preacher
Preacher
is an adult male Pit Bull that was found on the side of the road after being thrown out of a car with his sibling. His sibling was killed by a car. Preacher was very emaciated when found by a person who is trying to find a foster home for him. He is about 2 yrs old and weighs about 60 lbs. Preacher gets along with cats, dogs and loves people. He would do well in a family with children. He is crate trained and housetrained and he walks great on leash. He spends about 23 hrs a day in a crate so we are trying to find him a foster or adoptive home. If you would like to save her life by adopting or fostering thru NCRR, please email ncrottierescue@gmail.com NCRR provides medical care, heartworm preventative and can sometimes provide a crate to foster families. You do not have to live in North Carolina to foster or adopt a companion pet from NCRR.

First shelter
NCRR is working with a local shelter to help place unwanted companion pets. The shelter is very rural and has a very low adoption rate so most animals are put sleep. The animals are on limited time and need to find help as quickly as possible.  This is an outdoor facility and many animals are housed in the same cage. Funds are very low and they have little food to feed the dogs. Vet care is very limited. The good news is that the people who take care of the animals are wonderful people and very rescue friendly. They want to see the animals adopted to live long healthy happy lives with great families to love them.

Second Shelter

This particular shelter still uses the gas chamber. It depends on how full the shelter is, which they usually are as to how many days an animal gets to live to find a forever home. The adoption rate is not high and this is a very, very high kill shelter. Strays get 3 days and owner surrenders only have to be held for 24 hours. If they have room, all the dogs get a week or more if able, but sometimes they have to put down a couple times a week due to volume. Last week was that way and this week will probably be the same as they've already put down once this week. Won’t you consider opening your home and heart to save a dog that has virtually no chance to live?

In an effort to help the animals at this shelter, NCRR has formed the Mutt Matchers Program. The shelter sends us pictures and information on the dogs. We in turn place these dogs on our web site to advertise for foster or adoptive homes to try to save them before they are put to sleep.

Since NCRR is a purebred Rottweiler Rescue, the foster homes will be required to keep fostering the dog they choose until a Furever Home is found.

NCRR cannot guarantee a foster timeframe. It is our hope the dog will not be in foster care very long but this time cannot be guaranteed.  Each dog’s picture will have the kill date posted next to it. This means the dog needs a foster or an adoptive home before this date to prevent it from being put to sleep.

If you do not see a dog you would like to help, please let us know what type, size and gender of the dog you wish to foster. There are probably many similar dogs at this shelter needing help. We are more than happy to locate the specific dog you want to help.

If you wish to adopt a Mutt Matchers Dog, please fill out the adoption application.

NCRR’s Mutt Matchers program will provide foster families with the following:

Pay for the dog's vet bills, medicines, medical supplies (salves, special shampoos, bandages, etc.), and provides the dog with it's vaccinations, heartworm preventative or treatment and a collar. Foster families will also be provided with on-going support regarding training, crate training, medical questions, housetraining and much more. Mutt Matchers will also provide you with a crate if one is available in your area. Mutt Matchers will consider foster homes in any state. Please click here for a foster application. If you would like to fax your foster application, please email ncrottierescue@gmail.com for the fax number.
