ATTENTION: Due to the rising cost of medical treatment, NCRR has been forced to raise the adoption donation to $250.00 (includes $25 non-refundable application donation). This is the first increase since 2003.
Please print the application and mail it in with the $25 application donation. Any application submitted without $25 will not be processed. The $25 can also be submitted via PayPal using ncrottierescue@gmail.com account.
Of course, you are more than welcome to attend one of our adoption events to meet the dogs in attendance. Please visit our Events page to find more information. You can also fill out an adoption application at one of our adoption events.
As a non-profit organization, we strive to keep our costs down and to meet these costs by asking a donation from every adoptor. Our requested donation is $250.00 and includes spay/neuter, vet exam and any needed vet care, worming and shots as appropriate. This cost is higher than local shelters because we are not subsidized. Some dogs cost us much more than this and others less but by having a standard donation request, no dog is unadoptable because he cost us too much.
All NCRR companion pets are "fostered" at the homes of volunteers where they learn basic commands and socialization. Additionally, some of the foster pets have been thru basic or advance training classes.
North Carolina Rottweiler Rescue requires prospective adoptive families to complete an adoption application. Personal references and vet checks are complete along with a home inspection. Please note that all family member are required to be present during a home inspection. North Carolina Rottweiler Rescue is happy to hear from people interested in giving one of these wonderful dogs a responsible loving forever home but please remember that Rottweilers become deeply attached to their families. They enjoy sharing every aspect of their family's life and they love being near you at all times. If you feel you may not enjoy having a dog's constant companionship, then you may be happier with a different breed that is less oriented to human companionship.
Upon adoption completion, the remaining $225.00 donation* is required.
*You will need to consult your tax preparer in order to determine the eligibility of the tax deductible amount.
All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. There are special cases when this may be delayed due to health. All dogs are up to date on vaccines and on heartworm preventative.
Upon entering the rescue, the dogs are tested and treated (if necessary) for intestinal worms. These worms are highly contagious and the dog may contract these worms again at a later date. The rescue will test and treat again while in foster care only if the dog is symptomatic. Adoptive families are encouraged to further test and treat at their expense if their veterinarians recommend it.
Please note we are volunteers, not professional dog trainers or students of animal behavior. Descriptions are opinions only and are used as a guide to place the dog in the most appropriate home.
After adoption, we are available to assist and advise our adoptive families in any way we can. Obedience training is recommended, and we have two qualified trainers we can refer you to for training classes.
If for any reason your adoption doesn't work out, we require that you return the dog to us. There are no exceptions.
The adoption donation is not refundable should you return the dog, as it will have already been spent caring for the dog you adopt and/or other Rottweilers in need.
Minimum requirements for adopting from North Carolina Rottweiler Rescue are:
- Previous experience with large breed dogs
- Willingness to participate in training and socialization
- Willingness to provide responsible dog ownership and supervision
- Demonstrated financial stability
- Abilility to provide a letter from your landlord (if renting) stating you are permitted to have a Rottweiler on rented property

Please remember: we do not have a shelter, we do not receive funds from the government, and we do not receive free vet work. We depend solely on donations. We all work full time and the dogs are fostered at our homes. We do not have hours that designate times we are open or closed so please do not call before 9 am or after 9 pm.
