Al was dumped at a high kill shelter by his people after he spent his entire life as an outside dog living on a chain. Al tries to be alpha so he needs a very alpha person. He is loving and likes to play play play with his food bowl. He likes to go for walks and is eager to please. He has a beautiful face and is sporting has some European flair! Don't know what this means? Al was allowed the luxury of keeping his lovely tail. It's all the rage in Europe and is becoming more and more common here in America! Sooo....If you are ready for lots of playtime, love and kisses, put in your application today. Al can't wait to show you what Rottie love is really like!

Bandit is estimated to be around 4 yrs old. He gets along with large male and female dogs. He isn't a kitty cat kinda dog. He loves people and is submissive. He is a little shy and it appears he hasn't had the opportunity to be loved like he should. His person was evicted and he was taken to the shelter to wait to die. Bandit is at a loss about where he is and what happened to him. Won't you please step into his life and make him forget about the past and smile about the future. He doesn't dream of sugar plums but of a nice family that will keep him forever and ever and not take him somewhere and leave him ever again.

Bear loves to cuddle up with his people and if you are not around something with your smell will suffice. He loves to go for walks and runs and always walks and runs right next to you. He is a very submissive boy and loves everyone and every thing. Bear is also very gentle and cautious around little children. He is extra careful around my son and will even sit down or lay down so that he can be petted by my son.
Bear will do well in just about any household whether you have a active lifestyle or just a homebody. He would not do well in a house that will need to crate him for long periods of time. He does very well outside of his crate he just finds a comfy spot and sleeps right there till you come home.

Hi, I am Blade. I am a very energetic rottweiler. I love getting and giving attention and will do almost anything for you if you will rub my tummy. I have grown up with my brother, Saber, and we get along very well. I am not sure how I would do with other dogs or cats. I am good with people, including children. My owners put me though extensive training and I am leash and kennel trained. Please know I have some possession aggression, which can be controlled in the right environment. I am looking for a home with owners that are experienced dealing with dogs and would be best without children. My owners will consider paying for private training session. NCRR also has a Master Trainer that will be available to help with the possession issues.

Houston man accused of beating this poor dog (article pasted below)
|
|

This dog was in foster care and the woman cannot keep him, he still needs help.
In the above picture he weighed 74 ponds, he now weighs 99.3 pounds. He has been around my rotties and had no problem. I have no idea about cats but I did take him to a vet with several cats roaming the office and he could care less.
A Houston man is accused of beating his own pet. He's the first person to be charged under a new Texas law that makes it easier to punish someone accused of animal cruelty.
He is a young Rottweiler that is learning life. It's a life that that nearly ended six days ago in a northeast Houston yard. Nearby neighbors called police because of the dog's wild cries.
"The dog was suspended by its neck by [a] metal chain, choking to death and the guy was beating it with a broken baseball bat," said Lt. Mark Timmers of the Houston Humane Society. Story continues below
The chain the Humane Society said was embedded in the dog's neck and the broken baseball bat are now part of the evidence in this case. Four dogs including the Rottweiler were confiscated at the scene Saturday. The owner was arrested under the new state felony animal cruelty law. The DA's office accepted charges without reservation.
"Under the new law, the owner can be prosecuted if he kills or causes bodily injury to an animal in a cruel manner," said Harris County Prosecutor Belinda Smith. "In this particular case, this crime happened the day the new law came into effect."
Especially fortunate for a dog that has a name now, Bolo, and a kinder, gentler future.
Bolo is considered evidence in the case too. The owner of the dog is still in jail and will be given a psychiatric evaluation. If convicted, he could face up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
We have details about the law. It gives greater protection to domestic animals like dogs and cats. The old law didn't make a distinction between live stock and pets. This law defines what cruelty is and it's not just torture, it is any kind of cruelty. It also makes it easier to get an indictment against someone accused of abusing an animal.

Bunker is the best buddy ever. He will follow you all over the place and will never leave your side. He gets very jealous when you pet someone else and aren’t petting him too. He loves to go for walks and heals great, never pulls on the leash. This is a boy that will never run out of love and never gets tired of getting it.

To chase butterflies outside; enjoys riding in a car; loves the kids; likes to chew a lot--rope bones, tennis ball bones and other sturdy chew toys are a must have! Enjoys one-on-one attention and will slowly crawl up to you if you sit on the floor and call him. Likes to sit pretty for treats. He loves back-scratches, esp. around his healing skin.
|
|
Dislikes:

Absolutely hates the vacuum! If he is crated and you talk to him while using one, he will calm down and stop barking--some of this tension may be because 2 of his foster brothers don't like the vacuum. He must be crated while vacuuming--our Bissell has a few bite marks on it now! Also, does not like yelling and loud, angry voices. He hates being kenneled outside--while cleaning out crates this weekend, we put him in a large dog pen outdoors for 2 hours and he barked almost the entire time! He also did not care for bath time and kept pulling away but did not fight--however, this may be due to the tender areas still on his body.
|
|
Activity Level:
|
High at times (Buster appears to be making up for a puppyhood he probably never had!) but he also has long, mellow periods during the day where he just naps or lies down watching everybody. He does well given lots of positive attention but is not high-strung.
|
|
Notes:
|
|
|

You might ask yourself "What happened to Poor Buster?" It is hard to believe but he was drug behind a vehicle. Somehow he survived. AND still loves people. How could someone do this to an animal? Unfortunately, I cannot answer except to say whoever did this to Buster should be punished. He has received medical attention for the wounds on his back and had to be knocked out to have them cleaned. His wounds are about 2 weeks old. He had been wondering the streets with the wounds on his back and not one single person helped him until he was found in the middle of the street and taken to the local shelter where he was going to be immediately put to sleep due to his injuries. NCRR was called and he was taken into the NCRR Foster Program.
Buster has scars from his previous mistreatment that are healing very quickly. He is responding well to home obedience training and is learning his house manners. Buster Boy is a true survivor and will make someone a wonderful family pet. He responds very well to basic obedience and leash-training and is so eager to please. He would do well in just about any type of home: he is content sitting under my husband watching TV in a quiet house (quiet here means the wife and kids are out!); he really enjoys the kids and gets playfully excited around them; he likes his foster bros and enjoys rough-housing with them or playing tug-of-war with the rope bones. He likes to chase the little dog around the house (who is old, can be ornery and doesn't really like to play) but is not aggressive or trying to hurt him.
Buster is a gorgeous dog, with a very unique and expressive face and a pretty brindle coat (even with the scars and some hair still missing!)--It is so hard to believe that after all he has been through, he loves and tries so hard to please his foster family. When you talk to him, his ears stick straight up, he cocks his head and looks at you with an expression that melts your heart! He would absolutely thrive in a furever home where he can bond with his family and experiences true love for the first time in his life. The family lucky enough to adopt Buster will have a loyal companion to enrich their lives for many years--Are you that lucky family?

Cammy is a absolute joy to have. she is the perfect mix of energy and relaxation. She does very well in my tinny home and while i am not home she is quite content to sit on the couch or lay on my bed till I come home. She loves walks and even some running and never has enough of outside time. We often go from long walk and she heads right to the back door where she likes to run around in the sun and then just lay there in the shade. She has no intention of trying to jump my fence though it wont take much effort for her to she is quite content staying so there is no worries of her jumping. Cammy loves my 18 month old and seam to be extra careful around him. She loves my Holland lop rabbit also. their first meeting was a little rocky because she wanted to lick him and he didn't know what to think of her. Cammy would be a grate addition to any family and every life stile.

Update: He does very well. We currently have a Large Male Rhodesian/Hound mix, Medium female Brendled Pitt/Chow, Small male Jack Russell, and a puppy make Boxer/Terrier mix. Everyone is acting like a family. The initial meeting being that Cleatus is male and unfixed made Jackson (Rhodesian mix) become more alpha with two minor conflicts but no reaction or response from Cleatus and two weeks later we are all living and playing well with each other. Though the jack always had a small dig chip on his shoulder :).
Cleatus is an overly well mannered dog, to be a rescue. He tends toward being quiet and loving when laying around us but very playful around other dogs and has shown little to none aggression. When being disciplined he does not run or show fear. Very well mannered when receiving treats and is starting to grasp the sit and wait for food. He is a pleasure to walk as he does not pull the leash and is comfortable walking beside us. The only quirk is his over interest in our cat (He has shown no aggression towards the cat, but the cat is spooked by being stalked).

Loves rawhide, but eats it too fast. Will play fetch a couple of times with a stuffed animal. Loves to ride in the car and see new things. He loves watching animal shows on TV, will sit for a half an hour as long as there is an animal to watch.

Do like taking long strolls through the neighborhood, or long hikes in the wonderful parks and other NC recreation spots? Cookie never turns down the chance to go for a walk! This affectionate and good natured dog absolutely loves exercise.
He knows how to sit, heel, stay, and come when called. He learned these things incredibly quickly! He is so eager to please! He loves to play fetch with a stick or ball. While he has chased and returned a stuffed animal, he doesn't yet understand what toys are for, but as he acclimates to your household, he will get the idea. Time and praise are just what this boy needs to learn that there is fun to be had with that round object we call a ball.
Like most dogs, he thinks bunnies and squirrels are to be chased away, and will do his best to defend the property from them. He is learning that when the alpha says no, it means they shouldn't be chased. He's housebroken, but does show his subservience like any good puppy would with an occasional dribble. This should dissipate as he becomes more comfortable with the people in his life, and learns that strangers can be nice too. He rides well in the car, and likes to snuggle up and watch television with you.
Will you be the one to turn this underweight, under loved underdog's life around? Cookie is hungry for more than food, he is hungry for your affection.
